Stone and sky

Hey friends 👋,
Look. I don't care if you're a fan of Star Wars. If you haven't already, you should watch Andor. This show is one of the best pieces of media I've ever seen.

Andor is a TV show about how the rebellion we see in the original Star Wars trilogy formed. It's a political and action thriller that follows Cassian Andor – the future rebel captain who will steal the plans for the Death Star – as he goes from disgruntled smuggler to full-on revolutionary.
But more than that, this is a show about power, oppression, war, misinformation, and hope. It speaks so directly to our current moment with such nuance and poignancy, and I am honestly shocked Disney made this.
The show is a masterclass in storytelling. The writers weave homages to historical events in beautiful and tragic ways while grounding the story in complex, relatable characters. This is one of the things that makes the show so compelling, but also occasionally brutal to watch. Because although the scenes are fictional, the story it tells feels real.
If you're interested in learning more about how Andor's writers adapted historical events into the world of Star Wars, I highly recommend watching this video:
Work has been crazy for the last couple weeks, and I've had a lot of early morning meetings cut into my writing time. But I have not regretted one second I spent watching Season 2 of this show evolve.
I can't recommend it enough. If you've been watching it, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Until next time,
Drew
